60 questions · explanations after every answer
Free NHIE practice test
Sixty questions drawn from a real bank, weighted to the current EBPHI outline rather than to whatever was easiest to write. Answer one and the reasoning appears underneath. Turn on Mock mode and the reasoning is held back until the end, with a clock running at the real exam’s pace.
The walkthrough
The drill needs JavaScript. Everything else on this page — the blueprint, the weights and the guides — works without it.
Questions come from the NHIE bank behind our apps, filtered for length so the card does not jump, and checked so every explanation actually supports its answer. Options are shuffled with the correct answer spread evenly across the four positions — there is no “when in doubt pick C” here.

Why these proportions
The mock mirrors the blueprint, not the bank
It would be easier to sample questions evenly, or to take whatever the bank has most of. Both produce a test that feels fine and prepares you badly. This set is allocated across the nineteen tasks by EBPHI’s published weights, so the mix you get is the mix you sit.
Weights are EBPHI’s published content outline, effective 1 April 2024 (EBPHI exam overview packet, cross-checked against Pearson VUE publication 101001).

Are these real NHIE questions?
No, and be suspicious of anyone claiming otherwise — live items are secure and reproducing them is a good way to get a bank taken down. These are written to the same content outline and the same four-option format, and they are drawn from a bank of several thousand that sits behind our apps.
Why 60 and not 200?
Sixty is long enough to be representative and short enough that you will actually finish it in a sitting. The full-length experience is what Mock mode approximates: it paces the clock at the real rate of 72 seconds a question.
Do I need an account?
No. Nothing here asks for an email. Some of the sites competing for this search put a free practice test behind a form — this one does not.
How is this different from EBPHI's own practice quizzes?
EBPHI sells practice quizzes and each purchase is a single attempt — retaking means buying again. That is a reasonable thing for an exam board to do and their questions come from the people who write the exam. Ours are free and unlimited. Use both if you can afford to; use this one as many times as you like.
Crawlspace Prep is an independent study site. We are not EBPHI, ASHI, InterNACHI or a state board, we do not administer the NHIE, and nothing here licenses anybody. Always check the current rule with your state and with EBPHI.
